The dream of US tennis star Serena Williams of wining the French Open this year did not turn into a reality as she was easily beaten in the third round by Katrina Srebotnik 6-4, 6-4 in the third round. Serena showed very poor tennis form in the match and most of her overheads, volleys and forehands missed the target. This was the first time that Serena had to leave French Open so early. She was quick to admit that she missed easy shots when the chips were down. She was not in her usual groove in the match and Serena Williams’s fans who had bought tickets to watch her power tennis were a dejected lot.
