Rafael Nadal is still going strong. At the ATP event in Indian Wells, Nadal has been able to play well this year, ever since he came back from his knee injury. The problem is that he doesn’t really have as much competition that he might have otherwise had. Federer seems to be invisible with his back injury and he is, for the moment, stuck at #2 worldwide. But Nadal is keeping his case well in hand to remain in first position. It’s going to be an exciting year still, but without the Nadal Federer circus, it’s going to be a little quieter, it seems. We will, however, keep you completely up-to-date about all the events that happen.

Lleyton Hewitt, who has been a champ four times got off to a winning start at the London ATP tournament recently on June 9. The grasscourt at the Queen’s Club might have brought him luck as he effortlessly beat Brit Josh Goodall 6-4, 6-4 to advance further. He considered this match merely to be a warm up before Wimbledon happens and is glad to play on the green as opposed to the clay court last Sunday at the French Open. Hewitt managed to arrive in Round 3 in Paris without breaking a sweat even when he is still nursing a hip injury which is rapidly getting better according to his doctor.

The title of third youngest player to win the ATP since the year 1990 recently went to fifteen year old Ryan Harrison. The young American gained the title after defeating Uruguayan Pablo Cueyas with the unprecedented score of 6-4 and 6-3. This took place at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship located in Houston, Texas.
Cuevas didn’t stand a chance against the young Harrison even after three excellent serves. Harrison scored 3-1 in the second set and thus ended the game and started his reign as the third youngest victor in an ATP tournament in just under 57 minutes.
Harrison is just about a month shy of his sixteenth birthday and is considered the tenth player in the Open Era to notch up a win before his sixteenth year. The Texas youth began his astronomical career after ranking no.7 in the world junior category.
