The 78-year old Ken McGregor, the winner of the Australian Open, who was member of 3 winning Davis Cup teams, died at his home in Australia, it was reported Sunday. The Melbourne Herald Sun wrote that Ken McGregor died Friday of cancer in Adelaide. McGregor won the open in ‘52, defeating Frank Sedgman. Ken McGregor and Frank Sedgman teamed up to win many double titles. Ken also starred in 2 other sports, Australian football and cricket
For all those who did not spend much time last weekend in front of TV, I’m shouting: We beat the Russians! The mission today is not to let the achievements of the Americans at the net go unnoticed. The Davis Cup couldn’t even beat out the popularity of the NHL. Too bad, though, because this is a truly nice story. The United States tennis players are finally back on top after a long drought since 1995, which became even longer than the Ryder Cup in golf.
